Senior Frontend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Africa.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the delivery process for frontend features within internal tooling products, overseeing everything from design documentation to production and post-launch monitoring.

• Develop and enhance Vue 3 design-system components, including their API surfaces for engineers who will utilize them.

• Integrate REST APIs that support serverless functions and EKS services.

• Create frontend experiences that ensure eventual consistency, retries, idempotent submissions, and manage partial failures effectively.

• Implement instrumentation for frontend work in Datadog and carry correlation IDs through to the backend systems.

• Write and review design documents to ensure clarity and effectiveness.

• Engage in design-document review sessions to provide insights and feedback.

• Conduct Knowledge Sharing Sessions for the broader engineering organization.

• Clearly communicate the status of feature development to the team and stakeholders.

• Adhere to and contribute to the evolution of coding standards, development processes, and design best practices.

• Maintain quality through comprehensive testing and peer review processes.

• Participate in the Commercial development support rotation approximately once every five weeks.

• Write and sustain clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested platform code.

• Collaborate with the Technical Lead, Product Managers, designers, backend engineers, internal business partners, and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Frontend Engineer.

• Expert-level knowledge of Vue 3, Composition API, and TypeScript.

• Strong experience with React or Svelte may be considered, provided there is a compelling case for swiftly learning Vue 3.

• Profound understanding of modern JavaScript, component-based architecture, and state-management patterns such as Pinia.

• Extensive experience with contemporary CSS and SCSS, token-based styling, responsive design, and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.

• Proven ability to build and optimize scalable, high-performance user interfaces, including data-dense tables, dashboards, and forms with stringent validation requirements.

• Experience in building or maintaining shared component libraries or design systems, covering versioning, breaking changes, and migration paths for consumers.

• Strong background in RESTful APIs and integration methodologies.

• Ability to analyze distributed backends and handle potential failures.

• Knowledge of frontend application security, including XSS, CSRF, content security policies, and secure handling of client-side data.

• Familiarity with AWS services, particularly CloudFront, S3, Cognito, and CodeArtifact.

• Experience with testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, Vue Test Utils, Cypress, or Playwright.

• Familiarity with Storybook for component development.

• Experience in FinTech, Crypto, or environments with strict regulatory compliance is highly preferred.

• Exposure to African markets or environments with multi-currency and multi-regulator considerations.

• Understanding of serverless architectures.

• Familiarity with Datadog RUM, logs, and tracing capabilities.

• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

• Experience with frontend CI/CD pipelines and automated release tools such as release-please and Conventional Commits.

• Experience in deprecating and migrating from legacy frontend systems.

• Practical experience with AI coding tools.

• Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills.

• A keen interest in learning and sharing insights into trends in modern web and backend frameworks.
