Senior Frontend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain product interfaces utilizing TypeScript, React, TanStack Query, React Router, MaterialUI, and BaseUI.

• Convert product specifications and designs into technical documents that encompass scope, system behavior, edge cases, and technical analysis.

• Create component APIs, manage state, and establish data-fetching patterns.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs and define API contracts.

• Review, refactor, and phase out existing code.

• Identify and resolve frontend performance issues.

• Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Implement frontend observability using tools like Sentry, Grafana Logs, or New Relic.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across various applications.

• Design solutions to mitigate frontend security vulnerabilities such as XSS and CSRF.

• Transform vague product ideas into implementation-ready specifications.

• Create prototypes for interfaces and interactions to assess feasibility and product value.

• Utilize agentic coding tools like Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor to generate, refactor, test, and review code.

• Rigorously assess AI-generated code for accuracy, maintainability, security, performance, accessibility, and architectural suitability.

• Enhance spec-driven development methodologies through prompt patterns, review checklists, examples, and documentation.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers from problem conception to product release.

• Engage in code reviews and pair programming.

• Establish and convey frontend standards and best practices.

• Produce technical documentation that details components, algorithms, APIs, and operational handovers.

• Articulate technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in TypeScript and modern JavaScript at an expert level.

• Extensive knowledge of React, including data fetching, routing, and component libraries.

• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, such as design patterns, testing, debugging, readability, and extensibility.

• Solid grasp of UI, UX, and accessibility principles.

• Experience in diagnosing and resolving issues related to page load, rendering, and frontend performance.

• Familiarity with Sentry, Grafana Logs, or New Relic.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.

• Awareness of frontend security vulnerabilities, including XSS and CSRF.

• Strong proficiency with agentic coding tools and spec-driven development processes.

• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and trade-offs in layman's terms.

• Highly ambitious, with a strong sense of urgency and a proactive attitude.

• Over 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• More than 5 years of commercial experience with React and TypeScript.

• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining production frontends for customer-oriented SaaS products.

• Background in monitoring, incident response, and performance optimization.

• Experience working within a large, long-lived codebase.

• Proficient in consuming and defining REST APIs in a service-oriented architecture.

• Experience with Django REST Framework or equivalent is preferred.

• History of cross-functional collaboration with product managers and designers.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools in a professional software development context.

• Located in the UK, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Spain, or Portugal, with the legal right to work in these regions.

• Must be available for significant overlap with UK working hours.
