Senior Front-End Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain user interfaces that are responsive and accessible using HTML5, CSS3, and contemporary JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.

• Integrate front-end applications with back-end services through REST/JSON APIs.

• Create and sustain themes and front-end components for Drupal-based and other CMS-driven websites.

• Develop reusable component libraries while upholding consistent design and coding standards.

• Ensure that front-end deliverables meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.x standards through both automated and manual accessibility testing.

• Optimize page performance, cross-browser compatibility, and responsiveness on mobile devices.

• Write unit and end-to-end tests, and participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and security scanning.

• Collaborate with back-end developers, Information Management personnel, and stakeholders to convert requirements into user-friendly solutions.

• Mentor junior developers and suggest front-end tools, frameworks, and best practices.

• Adhere to documented standard operating procedures and propose enhancements to repeatable processes.

• Work alongside Information Management staff, system developers, QA, and security teams to ensure the accurate flow of data and metadata across system environments.

• Maintain technical documentation, release notes, and runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field (4 years of experience can substitute for a degree).

• Over 8 years of relevant experience in front-end or UI development.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship.

• Expert-level proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).

• Strong experience with React and/or Angular, including state management and API integration.

• Experience in building and utilizing REST/JSON APIs.

• Familiarity with responsive design, CSS preprocessors, and build tools (npm, Webpack, Vite).

• Comprehensive understanding of Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards and assistive technology testing (e.g., JAWS, NVDA).

• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows.

• Proficiency in front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress).

• Knowledge of secure coding practices.
