Senior Freelance Animator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop hyper-realistic animations for creatures, characters, and objects.

• Produce high-quality animations that reflect both natural and exaggerated movements based on project requirements.

• Exhibit expertise in multiple animation styles, encompassing both realistic and cartoon animation.

• Craft engaging performances that align with the creative vision and project specifications.

• Enhance performances by exploring reactions and pushing creative limits.

• Ensure that animations are technically proficient, adhere to guidelines, and are effective across various pipelines.

• Work in collaboration with technical and rigging teams to address challenges and enhance workflows.

• Partner with other departments and provide clear feedback on creative and technical solutions.

• Keep supervisors and production teams updated on progress, potential obstacles, and necessary adjustments.

• Share expertise, engage in learning sessions, and mentor junior animators.

• Remain informed about the latest animation techniques and technologies while continuously honing skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in a visual effects or animation studio.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Maya; experience with additional animation tools is a plus.

• Strong grasp of body mechanics and facial animation techniques.

• Capability to animate from reference and produce convincing acting performances.

• Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivation, and effective deadline management skills.

• A positive, collaborative mindset coupled with strong communication abilities.

• Asset: Experience with ShotGrid or other production tracking tools.

• Asset: Understanding of rigging fundamentals or custom tool development.
