This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.
• Take charge of the forward-looking financial strategy for n8n’s marketing efforts focused on both top and mid-funnel activities across PLG and SLG initiatives.
• Lead the annual planning process and ongoing Marketing forecasting from start to finish, including target setting, cross-department coordination, regional segmentation, budget management, and integration into the overall company plan.
• Collaborate with Marketing budget holders across areas such as demand generation, brand, community and DevRel, product marketing, and events.
• Manage program expenditures, which encompass agency and media contracts, event and sponsorship commitments, timing, seasonality, and reallocations within the budget year.
• Model demand generation, signups, MQL volume, activations, qualified opportunities, conversions, and velocity in partnership with Marketing Operations and Revenue Operations.
• Convert funnel and channel levers into demand assumptions for n8n’s comprehensive top-line model, quantifying financial impacts and trade-offs.
• Evaluate Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), payback periods, conversion rates, pipeline contributions, and expected versus actual ROI through attribution, incrementality testing, and other relevant causal methodologies.
• Develop a systematic framework for significant marketing investments, including hypotheses, baselines, anticipated returns, confidence intervals, leading indicators, scaling or stopping triggers, and post-investment evaluations.
• Construct and substantiate investment cases for brand, community, content, events, and other spending that is not directly attributable to closed revenue.
• Leverage internal data, external benchmarks, and post-investment insights to inform reallocations.
• Collaborate with Marketing Ops, RevOps, Data, and Controlling to ensure alignment of financial, attribution, measurement, and reporting frameworks.
• Define financial metrics used in Marketing reporting.
• Transform financial reporting and variance analysis into valuable insights and recommendations for Marketing leadership, executives, and board members.
• Engage closely with Marketing leadership and FP&A Managers overseeing PLG and SLG bottom-of-funnel strategies.
• Over 7 years of experience in FP&A or strategic finance, preferably within a dynamic technology or B2B SaaS context.
• Proven track record of directing intricate, multi-entity, multi-stakeholder annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes from beginning to end.
• Extensive experience in demand-side finance partnering, particularly in either a self-serve/PLG funnel or enterprise/SLG demand-generation model, along with a solid understanding of the other.
• Proficiency in analyzing CAC and CAC payback across channels and motions, including blended versus paid CAC, CLV/CAC, pipeline attribution, funnel conversion, and velocity.
• Demonstrated experience in building and defending investment cases for brand, community, content, or similar unaccounted expenditures.
• Experience managing program expenditures, including commitments, timing, seasonality, agency expenses, vendor economics, and reallocations.
• Capability to develop complex, integrated financial models that remain robust under varying assumptions, scenarios, and operational inputs.
• Ability to distill intricate analyses into straightforward recommendations and present them to Marketing leadership, executives, and board audiences when necessary.
• An AI- and automation-first mindset, including familiarity with platforms such as n8n.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• For applicants outside Germany, an existing right to work is necessary; visa sponsorship for Germany may be available.
