Senior Fire Investigator, IAAI-CFI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough and detailed investigations independently to ascertain the origin and cause of fires and explosions.

• Examine significant loss incidents, major fire losses, multiple claims, and suspected cases of insurance fraud.

• Investigate sites and deliver expert testimony during depositions and trials.

• Document investigations for requesting parties in accordance with best practices.

• Maintain confidential claim files and record pertinent facts in claims handling systems.

• Keep management updated on developments that influence claims outcomes.

• Review investigations and suggest resolutions and outcomes for claims.

• Offer guidance and recommendations to claims leadership and associates.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with government agencies and private information bureaus.

• Identify and interview witnesses and involved parties.

• Assess negligence and legal violations.

• Inspect public records such as deeds, mortgages, liens, lawsuits, judgments, and marriage and divorce records.

• Maintain technical proficiency regarding relevant privacy laws and the availability of public records.

• Provide investigative support to Fire Investigator team members.

• Contribute to quality programs.

• Travel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• IAAI-CFI certification is highly preferred.

• NAFI-CFEI is required at a minimum.

• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification or Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification is necessary.

• A minimum of five (5) years of fire investigation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Proficiency in PC usage, including advanced skills in Microsoft Office products.

• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Good analytical and interpretative abilities.

• Strong investigative skills are necessary.

• Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Capability to meet or surpass Performance Competencies.

• Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods.

• Must be able to kneel, squat, or bend as needed.

• Must be able to work outdoors in both hot and/or cold weather conditions.

• Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reach/work overhead.

• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds.

• Ability to drive for up to 4 hours per day.
