Senior FinOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Jordan.

📋 Description

• Oversee and evaluate cloud expenditures, usage patterns, budgets, and cost trends to pinpoint optimization possibilities.

• Identify and execute cost optimization strategies, which include resource rightsizing and eliminating unused or underutilized resources.

• Manage practices related to cost allocation, tagging, budgeting, forecasting, and showback/chargeback.

• Create cloud cost dashboards, reports, and actionable recommendations for optimization.

• Enhance cloud commitment and discount strategies, such as Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.

• Monitor for cost anomalies, budget discrepancies, and unforeseen changes in cloud expenditures.

• Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps teams to integrate cost efficiency into cloud architecture and operational practices.

• Establish and track FinOps KPIs while continuously enhancing FinOps governance, processes, and standards.

• Deliver savings and optimization in cloud costs.

• Enhance visibility into cloud costs, improve allocation precision, and refine forecasting.

• Minimize unused and underutilized cloud resources.

• Boost the adoption of FinOps standards, governance, and cost optimization practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, FinOps, or a related discipline.

• At least 2 years of practical experience in cloud cost management and optimization.

• Proficient hands-on experience with GCP, encompassing GCP pricing, billing, usage, and cost management.

• Experience with tools for cloud cost management, dashboards, reporting, and financial analysis.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in Excel and SQL is essential.

• Scripting experience is advantageous.

• Solid understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, and cloud services.

• Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, tagging, and showback/chargeback practices.

• Strong skills in stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration.

• Capability to work closely with technical and business teams to enhance cloud cost efficiency.

• FinOps Certified Practitioner designation is preferred.

• Relevant GCP certifications are a plus.

• Awareness or knowledge of IT security best practices as outlined by ISO/SOC or similar frameworks.
