Senior Financial Planning Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the regular reporting package provided to the joint venture partner, ensuring that all deliverables are accurate and timely.

• Generate project-level and facility-level P&L reports, along with monthly variance analysis, commentary, and dissemination.

• Assist in preparing compliance certificates, financial statements, and any deliverables required by lenders or investors.

• Monitor and reconcile capital contributions, capital accounts, and incentive/promote calculations in line with return waterfall mechanics.

• Develop and maintain driver-based project forecasting models that include construction draws, phased delivery timing, and stabilization assumptions.

• Manage the annual business plan and project budget, coordinating inputs from Project Delivery, Operations, and the asset management team of the joint venture partner.

• Oversee actual development costs compared to budget and escalate any significant cost or return discrepancies.

• Collaborate with Accounting on the treatment of joint venture entities within corporate consolidation, addressing both consolidation and equity-method accounting.

• Uphold the corporate cost allocation methodology for shared joint venture expenses.

• Reconcile general ledger information with joint venture and lender reporting outputs and address any discrepancies.

• Act as the embedded FP&A liaison for Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Development, and partner requests.

• Assist with ad hoc financial analyses and business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, valuation support, and scenario modeling.

• Identify, document, and rectify data quality issues in source systems and reporting outputs.

• Contribute to the processes, templates, and standards for joint venture reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate Finance, or a related field.

• 5–7+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, project/real estate finance, or relevant accounting roles.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including skills in financial modeling, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, and multi-source data consolidation.

• Experience with Power Query is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with private equity and joint venture structures, encompassing capital contributions, preferred returns, profit-split waterfalls, capital accounts, and incentive/promote calculations.

• Capability to interpret legal and partnership agreement language into documented finance processes and reporting schedules.

• Strong grasp of GAAP accounting principles, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, capitalization policy, and the classification of CapEx versus OpEx.

• Experience in managing externally driven, contractually obligated reporting deadlines.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills for handling complex, multi-entity financial data and producing executive-ready reports.

• Ability to independently manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.

• Experience in capital-intensive industries such as data centers, real estate, energy, infrastructure, or project-based environments is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with joint venture, fund, or PE-backed reporting obligations is a significant advantage.

• Proven experience overseeing a complete reporting cycle, including closing, variance analysis, commentary, and distribution.

• Preference for candidates with experience in building or maintaining project-, property-, or site-level P&L models.

• Previous responsibility for a budget or forecasting process for one or more cost centers.

• Proficiency in ERP or financial reporting systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.

• Experience in a PE-backed, joint-venture-structured, or high-growth company is a plus.
