This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the development of cost accounting policies, controls, and reporting to support financial and growth objectives.
• Design and scale the cost accounting infrastructure, including methodologies for expense allocation across all business segments and legal entities.
• Provide profitability analysis at the market and product level to assist leadership in margin optimization efforts.
• Facilitate the financial aspects of intercompany arrangements, covering cost allocation, transfer pricing inputs, and reporting required by internal and external parties.
• Create and maintain driver-based financial models that link membership growth, staffing choices, and vendor expenditures to the P&L and cash flow.
• Assist or take ownership of monthly closing activities related to costs, including accruals, allocations, variance analysis against budget and forecasts, along with management reporting packages.
• Develop business cases and ROI analyses, evaluate vendor and build-versus-buy decisions, assess market expansion and headcount investments, and ensure accountability for modeled investments.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives for continuous improvement and standardization of policies, processes, and controls, with a focus on technology advancement and scalable self-service tools.
• Provide support to market, network, and clinical teams with education, tools, analysis, and additional reporting to manage cost performance effectively.
• Assume responsibility for fulfilling audit, examination, regulatory, and compliance inquiries and requests.
• At least 5–10 years of experience in finance and/or accounting.
• Proven hands-on experience in cost accounting, including allocation methodologies, cost center design, unit cost or product-level costing, along with the capability to substantiate how figures are derived.
• Fundamental FP&A or accounting experience encompassing cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Advanced skills in financial modeling, with the ability to work comfortably with large and imperfect data sets, AI, and/or a BI platform.
• Strong knowledge of ERP or planning systems, or experience in establishing a cost allocation model from the ground up.
• Capability to clearly articulate financial results to non-finance professionals, and to respectfully challenge assumptions when the data does not align with the narrative.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities change and you contribute to building processes.
• Experience in healthcare services and/or health insurance is preferred.
• An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is desired.
