This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring precision and uniformity.
• Conduct monthly account reconciliations and address discrepancies.
• Manage month-end accounting closure activities, which include journal entries and general ledger closing procedures.
• Prepare and evaluate variance analysis, comparing actual outcomes to budget and forecasts.
• Compile quarterly and annual financial statements for internal reporting and tax obligations.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly finance materials for the board of directors.
• Draft and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and technical accounting memoranda.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS and internal control standards.
• Manage Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
• Maintain and manage the company’s capitalization table, ensuring precise tracking of equity ownership and stock option activities.
• Collaborate directly with external auditors, tax accountants, and legal advisors as necessary.
• Foster continuous enhancement of accounting processes, systems, and documentation.
• Act as the primary contact for company-wide finance-related activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification required.
• 3-5 years of experience in a controllership, senior accounting, or a comparable position.
• Strong familiarity with IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and AI tools (e.g., Claude, Chat GPT) in an accounting/finance context.
• Comprehensive understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial close procedures.
• Exceptional attention to detail along with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Capability to work autonomously and take accountability for deliverables.
• Preferred: Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Preferred: Knowledge of SaaS business accounting (e.g., revenue recognition, deferred revenue).
• Preferred: Background in a large, established organization with insights into robust accounting and internal controls frameworks, and/or experience in public accounting external audits.
