This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Perform virtual and on-site investigations at the residences of policyholders.
• Evaluate property damage, establish liability, assess the extent of loss, and negotiate equitable settlements.
• Utilize claims management software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to assess damage and draft estimates in a paperless setting.
• Identify and report potential subrogation opportunities.
• Notify the appropriate state and industry agencies regarding incidents of theft, fraud, or arson.
• Operate independently with responsibilities that directly influence management results.
• Represent the company in a professional manner during public engagements.
• Interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders for claims.
• Advocate for safety and adhere to safety and ergonomic standards.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Travel to the homes of policyholders in San Diego and its surrounding areas.
• Participate in 1 to 3 catastrophe deployments each year upon hiring.
• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Exceptional customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.
• Experience in construction or insurance is highly desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
• Proficient in computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Competence with smartphones and various applications.
• Willingness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing demeanor and comfort in engaging with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and investigators.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and bondable status.
• Final candidates will undergo a Motor Vehicle Record background check.
• Capability and willingness to climb ladders and work on rooftops several times daily.
• Ability to work in tight, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
• Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training examinations.
• Capacity to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, walking, seeing, speaking, reading, writing, and key entering.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
• Willingness to travel away from home for catastrophe deployments, typically for 2 to 3 weeks.
• Commitment to participate in 1 to 3 catastrophe deployments annually.
