Senior Fast Track Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage complex Fast-track applications from inception to completion.

• Facilitate collaboration across DOC to provide clear, consolidated recommendations to decision-makers.

• Craft and present high-quality submissions to expert panels.

• Offer guidance and assistance to regional teams concerning Fast Track Act matters.

• Proactively identify risks and issues early on and manage them effectively.

• Analyze legislation and policy to deliver robust, evidence-based recommendations.

• Simplify complex information into clear suggestions for various audiences.

• Forge strong relationships with stakeholders and represent DOC in external engagements.

• Mentor and support colleagues through peer review and knowledge sharing.

• Contribute to Fast-track consenting and conservation results for nationally significant projects.

• Engage with central and local government, iwi, applicants, expert panels, and senior decision-makers.

• In-depth understanding of resource management, conservation consenting, and regulatory processes.

• Familiarity with Fast-track legislation and statutory decision-making frameworks.

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects and managing competing priorities.

• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex evidence into straightforward advice.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Experience in preparing submissions and presenting evidence effectively.

• Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and participating in decision-making processes.

• Capability to establish trusted relationships across organizations and sectors.

• Sound judgment in recognizing risks and devising practical solutions.

• Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Māori tikanga and the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the role.

• Valid NZ work visa that covers the entire duration of employment.
