Senior Especialista Técnico COBOL – Modernización Legacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Analyze, maintain, and evolve core applications based on COBOL technology.

• Conduct technical analysis and reverse engineering on legacy systems, identifying and documenting embedded business rules within the code.

• Extract functional and technical knowledge directly from applications that have little to no documentation.

• Participate in modernization and transformation initiatives for legacy systems.

• Analyze and maintain batch processes, COBOL programs, and associated JCLs.

• Manage and optimize integrations between COBOL environments and Java applications.

• Perform end-to-end traceability of processes between backend and frontend.

• Collaborate with technical and functional teams to ensure the proper evolution of applications.

• Serve as a technical reference in legacy environments and facilitate knowledge transfer to new architectures.

• Resolve complex incidents and contribute to the definition of technical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid experience as a COBOL developer or technical specialist.

• Preferably experienced in Micro Focus COBOL environments.

• Experience in COBOL Mainframe will also be valued.

• Extensive knowledge of core legacy systems.

• Experience in modernization or transformation projects of legacy applications.

• Proficiency in code analysis and reverse engineering.

• Ability to identify and reconstruct business logic from source code.

• Knowledge of COBOL, batch processes, and JCL.

• Experience working with Oracle databases.

• Understanding of integrations between COBOL applications and Java environments.

• Capability to comprehend business processes and translate them into technical solutions.

• An autonomous, proactive profile oriented towards problem-solving.

• Ability to communicate with clients and act as a bridge between legacy systems and new architectures.

• Strong communication, documentation, and knowledge transfer skills.
