This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Collaborate closely with the Lead Artist and Creative Director to develop a detailed, immersive game world.
• Partner with Code, Level Design, and Animation teams to ensure all technical specifications are fulfilled.
• Research and organize relevant reference materials.
• Utilize concept art and/or references to produce distinctive and modular high-quality game-ready 3D assets.
• Optimize assets for the designated platforms.
• Work alongside external partners and the internal team to mentor and uphold a consistent style and quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
• Engage in the project during the early development phase to help define the game's world and tone.
• Highly skilled and experienced senior environment artist.
• Preference for candidates who have experience launching a third-person Unreal title on consoles.
• Prior experience in a professional game development setting, with at least one delivered Unreal product.
• A passion for narrative-driven games and environmental storytelling.
• Proactive mindset, strong self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to self-manage while working remotely.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Portfolio showcasing 3D modeling and texturing focused on realistic assets.
• Portfolio illustrating PBR material pipelines.
• Portfolio highlighting modular asset construction and world-building capabilities.
• Solid understanding of color theory and composition.
• Strong lighting abilities, particularly with Lumen.
• Examples of workflow stages from inception to completion.
• Expert proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine.
• Good technical knowledge of current UE 5 technology, including Nanite, Lumen, and PCG.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with contemporary production processes.
• Nice-to-have: Basic knowledge of Substance Designer.
• Nice-to-have: Skills in traditional art or graphic design.
• Nice-to-have: Understanding of material creation and editing techniques.
• Nice-to-have: Awareness of techniques such as photogrammetry.
• Nice-to-have: Experience collaborating with external partners.
• Full-time contractor role within a remote team.
• Occasional travel to New York City may be necessary.
