Senior Engineering Manager – Hands-on

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee engineering efforts for Alan's Work Environment sector and internal platform.

• Create and sustain Alan Home, the internal operating system and authoritative source of truth.

• Implement automation, Identity & Access Management, Privileged Access Management, and user lifecycle automation across more than 25 systems.

• Assess vendor alternatives and develop Alan-native internal software, including written business cases and ROI evaluations.

• Recruit and develop the expanding engineering team.

• Manage talent density, onboarding, feedback processes, and team skill composition.

• Define the technical direction, make architectural choices, and set quality and security benchmarks.

• Direct incident response and ensure operational excellence for essential internal systems.

• Maintain a hands-on approach through code reviews and programming tasks.

• Collaborate with product teams to define roadmaps and commitment to delivery.

• Cultivate engineers, mentor future leaders, and shape the engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in leading engineering teams.

• Proven history of developing high-performing teams.

• Capability to collaborate with product teams, shape roadmaps, recognize trade-offs, and ensure deliverables.

• Experience in establishing standards for engineering excellence.

• Proficiency in guiding architectural decisions.

• Familiarity with contemporary development practices and AI-assisted development tools.

• Recent hands-on engineering experience, including code reviewing and writing.

• Traits of curiosity, self-motivation, humility, collaboration, and a desire for growth.

• Mindset focused on people development.

• Fluent in English.

• Proficiency in French is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Passion for healthcare technology and innovation.

• Understanding of psychological safety and continuous learning principles.

• Legally authorized to work in France, Belgium, or Spain.
