Senior Engineering, Integration Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Zambia.

📋 Description

• Act as the key technical authority for the Mingomba copper project during its design and construction phases.

• Maintain comprehensive accountability for the quality, integrity, and integration of engineering across the owner's team, EPCM, and specialized contractors.

• Report directly to the Project Director and make binding technical decisions across various disciplines.

• Establish and enforce the foundation of design, engineering standards, and design criteria.

• Take ownership and drive the resolution of the technical risk register.

• Approve essential engineering deliverables, such as P&IDs, design criteria, equipment datasheets, and technical specifications.

• Manage scope freeze and prevent any scope expansion following project sanction.

• Guide the technical performance of EPCM and specialized contractors, monitoring their progress using earned value metrics.

• Lead reviews focused on constructability, operability, maintainability, and value engineering.

• Ensure engineering integration, resolve conflicts between disciplines, and manage shared interfaces.

• Prepare and deliver engineering cases for stage-gate evaluations.

• Supervise project change control and address technical, cost, and schedule impacts.

• Incorporate lessons learned from similar projects.

• Manage engineering interfaces with stakeholders, regulators, infrastructure providers, and Zambian technical authorities.

• Oversee the engineering aspect of process safety, which includes HAZOPs, HAZIDs, SIL assessments, and process safety evaluations.

• Serve as the design authority for safety-critical systems and offer engineering input for safety cases and regulatory submissions.

• Establish protocols for engineering data management, version control, handover processes, and deliverables registers.

• Direct engineering quality plans, hold points, witness points, and independent reviews.

• Build and lead the KoBold engineering team, defining resource needs, recruiting or seconding staff, and mentoring senior engineers.

• Integrate operational readiness requirements into design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 18 years of professional engineering experience in significant capital projects within the mining, minerals processing, oil and gas, or similar heavy industry sectors.

• Extensive experience as the lead engineering authority representing the owner's interests.

• Proven history of delivering projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from FEED to mechanical completion.

• Experience with at least one project exceeding $700M in total capital expenditure.

• In-depth experience in managing and directing EPCM contractors.

• Strong technical foundation across multiple disciplines, including civil/structural, mechanical, process, electrical, and instrumentation.

• Proficiency in conducting constructability reviews, operability assessments, value engineering, and facilitating HAZOP/HAZID sessions.

• Experience in developing and implementing engineering management plans, technical risk registers, design basis documents, and stage-gate technical submissions.

• Familiarity with earned value management, engineering progress tracking, and performance reporting from an owner's team perspective.

• Excellent communication and influencing abilities.

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline.

• Willingness and ability to travel internationally to Zambia, with an expected travel commitment of over 90 days per year.

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration is highly preferred.

• Experience with Mine Processing and Infrastructure is a plus.

• Experience in African or similarly complex operational settings is advantageous.
