Senior Engineering Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive technical design for a secure AI test and evaluation platform tailored for Government teams.

• Define and uphold the system architecture, technical roadmap, and architectural principles for intricate open-source AI solutions.

• Create and maintain interface specifications that ensure interoperability among platform services, evaluation tools, infrastructure, and external systems.

• Assess open-source and commercial technologies, documenting the technical, operational, security, and sustainability trade-offs involved.

• Provide and communicate recommendations regarding build-versus-buy-versus-adopt strategies.

• Ensure that designs meet Government requirements for hosting, identity, security, accreditation, and interoperability.

• Review engineering designs and address cross-cutting architectural decisions.

• Establish architecture standards, reusable patterns, technical guardrails, and design review processes.

• Represent the technical solution in Government design reviews, program milestones, and discussions with stakeholders.

• Transform mission, program, and security requirements into actionable technical directions.

• Offer expert guidance on technologies including PyTorch, JAX, Ray, Kubeflow, MCP, and open-weight large language models.

• Identify, document, and mitigate technical risks throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Assist in proposal and delivery activities by providing architecture documentation, technical estimates, implementation plans, and statements of work.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, ML, data, security, and application engineers.

• Guide the deployment, operational validation, and ongoing support.

• Mentor engineers and technical leads.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

• Over 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• More than 3 years of proven experience in system or solution architecture ownership.

• Experience in designing distributed, cloud-native systems that operate in production environments.

• Extensive technical experience across package management, CI/CD, ML infrastructure, data platforms, and web services.

• In-depth expertise in at least one area such as numerical computing, distributed or high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, data science and machine learning, MLOps, data engineering, generative AI, or agentic AI.

• Proficient in Python with a solid understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and design patterns.

• Experience in defining system interfaces, integration patterns, architecture standards, and technical roadmaps.

• Proven track record in evaluating open-source and commercial technologies and documenting architectural trade-offs.

• Capability to identify and manage cross-cutting concerns related to security, scalability, reliability, interoperability, and maintainability.

• Experience in overseeing technical work across various engineering teams or disciplines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to articulate complex technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs to customers, executives, and engineering teams.

• Capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating within a remote, distributed team.
