Senior Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and provide support to a team of engineers, encouraging innovation, accountability, and teamwork.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, offer coaching and constructive feedback, and facilitate professional growth.

• Engage in recruitment, onboarding, team development strategies, and performance management activities.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

• Contribute to critical development projects and help resolve engineering obstacles.

• Guide architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical direction.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to define and deliver effective solutions.

• Partner with Product to shape epics, plan sprints, and prioritize the backlog.

• Oversee team-level sprint planning, delivery timelines, and status reporting.

• Ensure the team adheres to sprint commitments and meets deadlines.

• Identify and manage technical dependencies and potential risks.

• Advocate for best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.

• Drive ongoing improvements in tools, workflows, and team processes.

• Assist in defining and implementing a long-term technical strategy.

• Build and maintain client-facing components within both monolithic and microservices architectures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including 1–2 years in a leadership or team lead role.

• Proficient with AWS Lambda, ECS, SQS, Kinesis, Sendgrid, Postfix, and Terraform.

• Experience in designing and delivering scalable, production-ready systems and applications.

• Comfortable contributing to both frontend and backend codebases.

• Strong understanding of modern development practices, architectural patterns, and engineering tools.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, particularly within cross-functional teams.

• Proven experience in delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs.

• Keen interest in database and query performance optimization.

• Familiar with scrum/agile development methodologies.

• Experience in code reviews, service ownership, fully automated testing, microservices, and rapid/continuous releases.

• Technical expertise in email processing and tracking within large systems.

• Experience with serverless architectures, queuing, and streaming technologies.

• Willingness to be on-call for support and to engage directly with clients when necessary.

• Experience in the finance industry and/or in a SaaS startup environment is a plus.
