Senior Energy Storage Project Engineer – Commissioning Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of technical engineering, construction supervision, and commissioning execution for large-scale BESS projects across assigned regions.

• Supervise the design, construction, and commissioning of BESS projects in collaboration with third-party engineering firms and EPC contractors.

• Review and negotiate interconnection agreements in coordination with Transmission and Interconnection teams.

• Lead the development of RFQ/RFPs in partnership with the Procurement team.

• Collaborate directly with utilities and consultants.

• Travel to project sites throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

• Deliver technical documentation for the design, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale BESS projects.

• Oversee the commissioning processes for high-voltage substations, switchyards, and transmission systems.

• Assist in the negotiation and execution of interconnection agreements (LGIA).

• Create RFQ/RFP packages for EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

• Work cross-functionally with Transmission, Interconnection, Procurement, and Development teams.

• Engage in discussions related to queue reform and large load policy within ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and PJM.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering preferred).

• 5-7+ years of experience in project engineering, EPC, construction management, or commissioning within the power sector.

• Practical experience with high-voltage utility substations, switchyards, and transmission systems.

• Strong grasp of battery energy storage principles and its value proposition.

• Knowledge of ISO/RTO commissioning compliance and LGIA/PPA frameworks.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, and SharePoint.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time to various project sites.

• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools aimed at enhancing engineering productivity.

• A practical, data-driven approach suitable for navigating ambiguous and rapidly changing market conditions.

• Ideal candidates will have experience in roles such as Sr. Project Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, Commissioning Manager, Manager of Commissioning, High Voltage Commissioning Engineering Supervisor, HV Commissioning Engineer, Lead High Voltage Commissioning Engineer, BESS Commissioning Engineer, or similar positions.
