This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Focus on US energy markets as part of the Power Systems team, concentrating on energy system planning for system operators, regulators, and governmental organizations.
• Utilize fundamental market modeling tools to predict energy prices and cross-border flows across various time frames: short, medium, and long term.
• Implement market modeling and portfolio optimization models to inform pre-trade decisions for physical energy trading and/or proprietary trading activities.
• Employ market models to assess Value at Risk and formulate medium-term hedging strategies.
• Optimize participation in secondary markets, including balancing and ancillary services, using advanced models.
• Assess the implications of disruptive technologies on long-term energy markets.
• Leverage modeling to assist in strategic and investment decision-making processes.
• Lead projects involving energy market models and PLEXOS implementations.
• Contribute to business development through thought leadership and expertise in sales.
• Gather client requirements and design PLEXOS-based modeling solutions, which may include enhancing datasets or constructing models from the ground up.
• Provide insights on industry best practices, develop market assumptions, analyze model results, and suggest modifications.
• Calibrate models against historical benchmarks and advise on strategic applications of PLEXOS.
• Create test plans, resolve issues in collaboration with product support, and conduct PLEXOS training sessions.
• Develop proof-of-concept models that highlight Energy Exemplar solutions.
• Assist sales efforts by understanding customer challenges and proposing customized solutions.
• Deliver technical presentations, respond to RFIs/RFPs, and address inquiries related to products.
• Provide market insights to enhance the product development roadmap.
• Conduct research, create energy market studies, and share findings at conferences and webinars.
• In-depth knowledge of electricity markets, power trading, or electrical systems planning and operations.
• Experience in modeling energy market supply and demand through optimization/unit commitment, preferably using tools like PLEXOS, BID3, Antares, SDDP, or PROMOD.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport.
• Proficiency in corporate productivity and web presentation software.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong listening capabilities and presentation proficiency.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and manage time efficiently.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, with a positive outlook and a commitment to quality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to manage multiple competing priorities.

• A tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, or a related field, preferably with a specialization in Electricity Systems and/or Markets.
• 3–4 years of experience in energy markets with a solid understanding of energy economics, market fundamentals, energy systems operations, and/or engineering.
• Familiarity with PLEXOS or other mathematically based optimization tools.
• Experience with ENTSO-E working groups, particularly in TYNDP or ERAA studies.
