This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Contribute to the expansion of Energy Exemplar in North America as a member of the Americas – Data and Insights team.
• Identify use cases that benefit customers.
• Develop strategies for market entry.
• Provide expert guidance as a subject matter authority.
• Comprehend customer challenges and offer viable solutions.
• Create products utilizing Energy Exemplar tools and datasets.
• Construct and supervise the development of energy market models using PLEXOS.
• Leverage expertise in energy market fundamentals and fundamental nodal modeling.
• Practical modeling experience in multiple Independent System Operators (ISOs) such as ERCOT.
• Proficiency in nodal power flow modeling with the ability to discuss Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs), congestion, contingencies, and Loss of Load Factor (LODF).
• Self-motivated with the capacity to work autonomously.
• Over 7 years of direct experience in Energy Modeling and Power Market Analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the aptitude to research and acquire new techniques.
• Experience in creating and analyzing energy datasets for power modeling.
• Knowledge and experience in production cost market modeling.
• Experience with nodal market modeling is essential.
• Familiarity with one or more energy economic modeling tools, such as PLEXOS, Aurora, PROMOD, PSO, MarketAnalytics, and/or PROSYM.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and related tools.
• Foundational understanding of energy markets and relevant economics.
• Ability to convey complex topics in a straightforward manner.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• A top-down approach to problem-solving with the capability to view the broader context.
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, listening, and presentation abilities.
• Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Self-driven, results-oriented, with a positive outlook and emphasis on quality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities effectively.
• A sense of urgency regarding goal achievement.
• A four-year degree in Economics, Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), or Mathematics is preferred.
• A Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
• Previous experience in constructing fundamental energy market models.
• Knowledge of PLEXOS or other mathematically based optimization tools.
