Senior Embedded Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, prototype, develop, and test firmware for production vehicles focused on safety-critical systems.

• Create and enhance applications in RTOS environments, optimizing for reliability, latency, throughput, memory usage, and power on resource-constrained platforms.

• Take ownership of and advance the communication architecture among MCUs, sensors, and main compute using both standard and custom protocols.

• Lead the bring-up and debugging processes for new boards and SoCs, including the development of bootloaders, drivers, and low-level diagnostics.

• Collaborate with electrical engineers and software developers to transition new sensor and compute platforms from prototype phases to production.

• Define and construct automated testing frameworks and harnesses at unit, integration, and system levels.

• Mentor embedded engineers, perform code reviews, and assist in establishing engineering standards, tools, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C and/or C++ for embedded systems at an expert level.

• Strong understanding of communication protocols, including SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, and TCP/UDP.

• Experience in developing within RTOS environments such as embedded Linux with pthreads, QNX, VxWorks, or RTEMS.

• Familiarity with MCU bootloaders, device drivers, and the bring-up of new boards or SoCs.

• Proven experience deploying firmware to multi-device systems or vehicles in a power-safe and fault-tolerant manner.

• Demonstrated ability in speed and size optimization for resource-constrained platforms.

• Experience with safety-critical systems and processes, such as ISO 26262 or similar standards, is highly regarded.

• Strong understanding of the embedded software development life cycle, including version control, code reviews, CI, and automated testing.

• Typically, a minimum of 7 years of experience in developing embedded software for production systems, with significant work on safety-critical or highly reliable platforms.
