Senior Electrical Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the North American Service Distribution Team.

• Design, specify, and implement material handling systems for customers across North America.

• Upgrade existing customer facilities with sophisticated automated material handling systems.

• Ensure that designs comply with customer needs and safety standards.

• Collaborate across disciplines including mechanical, controls, supply chain, and installation to coordinate designs.

• Review and validate engineering designs and calculations through peer evaluation.

• Enhance system performance from initial designs to finalized electrical designs within allocated budgets.

• Create and assess component sizing calculations, such as conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, protection, control panels, networks, harmonic studies, and load studies.

• Design and authorize intricate PLC-based process control systems and associated components.

• Engineer project specifications for unique applications.

• Specify, evaluate, and approve electrical and process control equipment.

• Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, and similar tools to generate wiring diagrams, termination lists, and bills of materials.

• Record engineering decisions through design documentation, installation files, and engineering instructions.

• Conduct site surveys as required.

• Provide support for installation and commissioning both on-site and remotely from a home office.

• Maintain project document control using a rights-based database system.

• Inspire and guide engineering team members while collaborating with stakeholders across various departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology, or an Associate EE/ET with 12 years of relevant experience.

• At least 8 years of pertinent work experience, including a minimum of 4 years in the material handling industry or a similar process industry.

• An Associate EE/ET alternative requires 12 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in the material handling industry or a similar process industry.

• Willingness and capacity to travel domestically up to 30%.

• Proficiency in designing electrical and process control systems.

• Experience in directing engineering designs using professional judgment, industry practices, codes, and standards.

• Background in project management or leading teams.

• Familiarity with project planning and tracking tools for deliverables.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar drafting software.

• Competence in using the Autodesk Suite, including Navisworks.

• In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and principles of process control.

• Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code).

• Experience in designing low-voltage power distribution and process control systems.

• Capability to work independently or remotely as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, research solutions, and drive process enhancements.
