Senior Elastic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, design, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise Elastic environments.

• Establish and uphold best practices for scalability, resilience, lifecycle management, and operational excellence.

• Support and refine platform strategies to ensure high availability, retention, performance, and cost efficiency.

• Lead investigations and solutions for complex platform, pipeline, and data challenges.

• Design and manage ingestion pipelines, data models, and normalization standards in line with ECS.

• Develop and optimize advanced Logstash and ingest pipelines for handling high-volume and diverse data sources.

• Conduct large-scale Elastic Agent and Fleet deployments for endpoint and observability use cases.

• Facilitate the integration of various security and observability telemetry sources while maintaining high data quality.

• Design and enhance AWS-backed Elastic infrastructure, including S3, compute, networking, IAM, and related cloud services.

• Create production-grade CI/CD pipelines.

• Utilize AWS services for snapshot strategies, retention, archival, and broader platform operations.

• Monitor and optimize cost factors across compute, storage, ingestion, and retention.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration via infrastructure-as-code.

• Design sophisticated Kibana dashboards, detection workflows, observability views, and executive reporting.

• Collaborate with detection engineering, infrastructure, and leadership teams to determine requirements and roadmap priorities.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing detection coverage, platform reliability, and observability maturity.

• Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and contribute to platform roadmap planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Elastic Certified Engineer certification.

• Elastic Certified Observability Engineer certification.

• Over 5 years of practical experience with enterprise Elastic environments.

• Strong expertise in Elastic Security and Elastic Observability.

• Expert-level understanding of Elasticsearch architecture, including indexing, sharding, replication, search, and query performance.

• Proficiency in optimizing Elasticsearch templates and fine-tuning relevance.

• Demonstrated experience managing large, highly available Elasticsearch clusters in production settings.

• Extensive expertise in capacity planning, cluster optimization, scaling, and platform hardening.

• Advanced skills in Elasticsearch Query DSL and search optimization.

• Strong programming and automation capabilities in Python, Java, Ruby, or similar languages.

• Proven background in cybersecurity, including experience in threat detection, attack techniques, telemetry, and defensive operations.

• In-depth knowledge of Elastic security controls, including RBAC, encryption, detection rules, machine learning, and AI Assistant functionalities.

• Significant experience with data parsing, enrichment, and transformation using GROK, DISSECT, Logstash, and Elasticsearch ingest pipelines.

• Familiarity with advanced detections, Watchers, dashboards, and observability views.

• Strong experience in supporting Elastic deployments within AWS-backed environments.

• Basic understanding of AWS services, including S3, compute, networking, IAM, monitoring, and cost management.

• Strong Linux administration skills in distributed data platform environments.

• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and communicate effectively with engineering and business stakeholders.

• Preferred: experience in leading platform modernization or migration projects.

• Preferred: experience in designing multi-cluster or multi-region Elastic architectures.

• Preferred: experience in creating reusable engineering standards, patterns, and operational playbooks.

• Preferred: experience mentoring engineers within enterprise platform teams.
