Senior Director, UX Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor software development teams, which include technical leads, senior engineers, software engineers, and early-career professionals.

• Define and implement the technological vision, engineering strategy, architecture roadmap, and operational model for Advisor Solutions Products.

• Design, assess, and execute scalable architectural integration solutions, APIs, integrations, data platforms, cloud services, and user-facing experiences.

• Provide technical leadership during discovery, requirements analysis, solution architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.

• Drive the delivery of secure, resilient, scalable, and high-performance applications and services.

• Establish and uphold architectural standards across Java, Python, front-end technologies, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, observability, security, and integration patterns.

• Advocate for domain-driven design, microservices, event-driven architecture, API-first development, reusable components, automated testing, code quality controls, and technical documentation.

• Lead the evaluation and incorporation of generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, AI coding assistants, and agentic AI implementations.

• Ensure that AI solutions incorporate security, privacy, governance, reliability, monitoring, transparency, and human oversight.

• Collaborate with Product Management, SREs, DevOps, Security, Architecture, Data, Client Success, and business stakeholders.

• Manage technology planning, capacity, resource allocation, delivery dependencies, technical risks, and external team engagement.

• Enhance Agile delivery practices and ensure transparent reporting of delivery status and risks.

• Ensure production excellence through support coverage, incident management, root-cause analysis, service-level objectives, resiliency planning, and issue resolution.

• Ensure compliance with secure development, change and incident management, vulnerability remediation, audit, risk, and compliance requirements.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.

• Conduct one-on-ones, provide feedback, support career development, and mentor technical leaders and team members.

• Maintain architecture documentation, solution designs, development standards, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is preferred.

• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant experience leading multiple technical teams and complex technology initiatives.

• Proven success in defining architectural solutions and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms from concept through to production operation.

• Deep technical expertise in Java and modern Java frameworks, including Spring Boot, as well as Python and contemporary Python web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.

• Strong experience with Angular and/or React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, responsive design, and accessible user-interface development.

• Expert knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs, API versioning, OpenAPI or Swagger, OAuth2, JWT, and secure integration practices.

• Experience in designing and delivering cloud-native architectural solutions, preferably utilizing AWS, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or EKS, serverless services, containerization, cloud security, and scalable deployment patterns.

• Strong experience with both relational and non-relational data technologies, including PostgreSQL; data modeling; SQL; performance optimization; and database reliability.

• Experience with asynchronous processing, task queues, messaging, or streaming technologies such as Celery, SQS, Kafka, or similar platforms.

• Proven expertise in Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD, Docker, automated testing, code scanning, observability, and release automation.

• Strong practical experience with AI-assisted development, retrieval-augmented generation, large language model integration, and agentic AI implementation.

• Demonstrated ability to assess emerging technologies, develop adoption strategies, and translate technical capabilities into measurable business value.

• Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
