Senior Director, Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead ZipRecruiter’s user experience (UX) practice during a significant growth phase.

• Cultivate a profound understanding of users and their workflows to inform solution design and decision-making.

• Champion user experiences that drive product success, encompassing everything from iterative experiments to comprehensive redesigns.

• Take personal responsibility for outcomes in key areas that enhance interactions between job seekers and employers.

• Develop and implement a vision for enhancing user experience in critical product domains.

• Establish expectations and success metrics for the Product Design team.

• Nurture talent and foster a vibrant Product Design culture.

• Ensure that Product Design consistently contributes positively to the product roadmap and outcomes.

• Shape the future of Product Design in the context of AI advancements.

• Set standards for the utilization of AI tools and methodologies to accelerate product development and delivery.

• Collaborate with leaders from Product, Engineering, and Decision Science.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in Product Design.

• More than 5 years of experience in managing teams.

• Demonstrated ability to serve as a “player-coach.”

• Strong customer focus and experience leveraging customer insights to influence product decisions and outcomes.

• Proven history of initiative, influence, and a positive impact on results.

• Credibility and communication skills to drive organizational change.

• Strong analytical skills to structure and resolve complex challenges while working backwards from objectives.

• Personal proficiency with modern AI and design tools.

• Experience incorporating AI tools or methodologies into a design team’s workflow.

• Preferred: Experience designing for two-sided marketplaces or small to medium-sized business (SMB) employers.

• Preferred: Familiarity with design engineering and design systems compatible with AI coding tools.

• Preferred: Background in fast-paced, scaled technology companies.
