Senior Director Analyst – AI Driven Compute Architecture, Custom Silicon

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

• Develop innovative, thought-provoking, and essential insights content that is highly leveraged.

• Create thought leadership, insights, and actionable strategies tailored to client needs.

• Conduct comprehensive analyses to uncover root causes of client challenges and inform strategy.

• Establish positions on insights across a team of analysts.

• Provide independent insights to Gartner leaders and shape research agendas.

• Research, analyze, and forecast market trends and shifts.

• Offer actionable advice to clients and prospects through both virtual and in-person engagements.

• Design and deliver presentations for Gartner events, conferences, and client briefings.

• Support BTI and Sales by acting as the voice of the market and fostering client engagement.

• Conduct timely, high-quality peer reviews of content.

• Build credibility as an industry expert by representing Gartner insights, methodologies, and strategies.

• Engage in innovation, ideation, and research discussions.

• Enhance research processes and create new service-delivery methodologies.

• Mentor and coach junior team members.

• Promote regular client engagement with Gartner insights and interactions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electronics, semiconductor engineering, software engineering, or a related field.

• A graduate degree or MBA in marketing, operations, or a related area is preferred.

• Over 12 years of experience in semiconductors or a related industry.

• Recent experience focused on AI platforms, AI models, compute architecture, or custom silicon.

• Experience in customer-facing roles within the semiconductor supply chain.

• Experience collaborating with market intelligence, product planning, engineering, and sales organizations.

• Strong understanding of embedded software and the custom semiconductor supply chain.

• Knowledge of AI platforms and models and their implications for ASIC design and compute architecture.

• Familiarity with GPUs, ASICs, XPUs, domain-specific accelerators, edge AI processors, and AI SoCs.

• Understanding of large language models, small language models, multimodal models, agentic systems, physical AI, robotics AI, industrial AI, and automotive AI.

• Insight into infrastructure implications, including memory needs, interconnect, packaging innovation, compute clustering, and edge-versus-cloud deployment.

• Knowledge of commercial models, including merchant silicon, custom silicon, build-versus-buy decisions, hyperscaler design strategies, and enterprise AI appliance markets.

• Familiarity with key semiconductor and technology providers such as Intel, TSMC, Broadcom, Marvell, ASE, and Synopsys.

• Experience in building quantitative market models, forecasts, scenarios, and market share analyses.

• Executive presence and the ability to establish credibility with executives and stakeholders.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform under tight deadlines.

• Excellence in research and writing.

• Proficiency in written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, and presentation skills.

• Ability to analyze and synthesize data, defending conclusions effectively.

• Strong communication skills with the capacity to convey complex concepts clearly.

• Subject matter expertise and comfort presenting at both large and small-scale speaking events.

• Strong business and financial acumen.

• Deep understanding of the global and competitive landscape within the subject area.

• Capability to work independently and collaborate across teams in a multicultural global environment.
