Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and sustain secure cloud-native delivery platforms utilizing AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and GitOps methodologies.

• Take ownership of and consistently enhance DevOps platform standards, reusable delivery frameworks, secure pipeline practices, and governance guidelines.

• Create reusable automation, deployment templates, scripts, and platform functionalities to boost reliability, scalability, compliance, and developer efficiency.

• Lead the resolution of technical challenges, troubleshooting, code reviews, and engineering standards for intricate delivery and infrastructure problems.

• Assist with cloud implementations, upgrades, migrations, and change requests using reusable, well-governed components.

• Stay updated on trends in cloud, DevOps, AI-enhanced engineering, and platform technologies.

• Collaborate with Scrum teams, application teams, security, infrastructure, and leadership to align platform initiatives with priorities and operational requirements.

• Identify inefficient cloud usage, opportunities for right-sizing, and cost-effective design strategies.

• Keep stakeholders updated on solution progress, risks, decisions, timelines, and opportunities to enhance delivery or minimize operational expenses.

• Recognize solution gaps, issues with managed service providers, technology risks, and opportunities for standardization, automation, cost savings, or improved resilience.

• Convert business, functional, and non-functional requirements into technical plans and recommendations.

• Evaluate ACT DevOps processes and the ecosystem of repository, bootstrap, Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket, Ansible, Terraform, ArgoCD, AWS, and EKS.

• Develop initial tool and platform roadmaps.

• Foster relationships with Scrum teams and stakeholders as a trusted DevOps subject matter expert.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including DevOps, platform engineering, cloud automation, or infrastructure delivery.

• Proficient in CI/CD automation tools, cloud automation, Infrastructure as Code, and software version control.

• Experience with Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and AWS is preferred.

• Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment patterns, and GitOps.

• Preferably experienced with AWS EKS and ArgoCD.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.

• Experience in managed services, project delivery, change management, or complex enterprise technology environments.

• Solid understanding of contemporary DevOps, platform engineering, CI/CD, GitOps, cloud-native delivery, observability, and DevSecOps practices.

• Skills in Linux administration, scripting, and automation using Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.

• Strong communication skills, ability to build relationships across teams, and capability to translate business needs into viable technical solutions.

• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, analytical skills, and the ability to work with a high level of autonomy.

• Capable of mentoring, advising, and influencing technical teams while promoting standards, continuous improvement, and responsible AI-assisted engineering practices.

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
