
Senior Design Director – Digital Infrastructure, Mission Critical Facilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of intricate digital infrastructure, mission-critical systems, utility projects, and large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
• Provide leadership at the executive level for multidisciplinary teams responsible for the delivery of hyperscale data centers, essential facilities, telecommunications infrastructure, utility systems, network operations centers, cable landing stations, and related infrastructure projects.
• Direct projects from site selection and due diligence through to design, construction, commissioning, and achieving operational readiness.
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of the project.
• Coordinate disciplines including architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunications, environmental, and commissioning.
• Ensure integration of design, quality, constructability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Conduct technical design reviews and facilitate executive stakeholder workshops.
• Manage extensive and complex programs from the planning stage to commissioning.
• Supervise project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk management.
• Identify challenges in project delivery and create mitigation strategies.
• Assist in procurement, contractor coordination, and construction administration.
• Act as the executive-level client lead, fostering relationships with technology providers, utilities, infrastructure developers, public agencies, and institutional clients.
• Drive strategic account growth and engage in business development activities.
• Support major proposals and pursuit efforts.
• Provide leadership for AI infrastructure campuses, cable landing stations, network operations centers, utility and power infrastructure, fiber and telecommunications networks, industrial and technology campuses, and broadband and connectivity infrastructure.
• Mentor project managers, design managers, and technical leaders.
• Build and expand a high-performing multidisciplinary delivery team.
• Assist in recruitment and succession planning initiatives.
• Travel domestically and internationally for client engagements, site evaluations, design workshops, project milestones, and construction activities as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, along with 8 years of relevant experience, or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.
• 8+ years of experience in managing complex infrastructure, telecommunications, mission-critical, utility, or data center projects.
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success in managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or an equivalent professional credential is preferred.
• Experience in delivering data centers, telecommunications facilities, broadband networks, fiber infrastructure, utility infrastructure, mission-critical facilities, or similar large-scale infrastructure programs is preferred.
• Knowledge of submarine cable systems, cable landing stations, dark fiber networks, carrier-neutral facilities, or long-haul communications infrastructure is preferred.
• Experience with international projects and geographically distributed teams is preferred.
• Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, utility coordination, and regulatory processes is preferred.
• Proficiency in BIM/Revit, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, GIS, or other related design and collaboration platforms is preferred.
• Strong experience in business development, proposal management, and client engagement is preferred.
• Proven ability to mentor staff and lead high-performing teams is preferred.
