Senior DBA – Database Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, manage, and enhance enterprise MySQL database platforms.

• Engineer and uphold solutions for replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery, including regular recovery testing.

• Create production-quality code and automation for database provisioning, deployments, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and monitoring.

• Develop and sustain Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform through GitHub and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.

• Establish and monitor SLOs, implementing monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for database health and performance.

• Spearhead production incident responses, conduct root-cause analyses, and lead blameless postmortems while executing preventative measures and self-service automation.

• Utilize GitHub Copilot tools to aid in coding, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation while reviewing AI-generated content.

• Diagnose issues across databases, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure.

• Collaborate with application teams on schema design, query performance, capacity planning, and safe database modifications.

• Drive database modernization projects, including migrations to cloud-native architectures and managed services.

• Work in partnership with software engineering, SRE, networking, and infrastructure teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of MySQL administration, replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and performance tuning.

• Proficient Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across databases, infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments.

• Capability to develop, test, and sustain production-quality code and automation using languages such as Python, Go, Java, C#, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.

• Practical experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, Git workflows, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.

• Experience managing databases within cloud environments; familiarity with Microsoft Azure is preferred.

• Working knowledge of SRE practices, including SLOs, observability, incident management, postmortems, and automation.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools like GitHub Copilot CLI, Copilot app, or Copilot in VS Code, including reviewing and validating AI-generated outputs.

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, SSL/TLS, and virtual networking.

• Experience in supporting databases on VMs or Kubernetes and/or developing AI-assisted or agent-driven automation workflows is preferred.
