Senior DBA Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Act as the subject matter expert for databases within the Foundation squad, overseeing the support and administration of the platform’s databases.

• Assist squads via the ticketing system by addressing incidents and requests related to query tuning, index optimization, and structural maintenance, adhering to established SLAs.

• Maintain data availability and integrity through the management of backup and restore procedures, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery plans.

• Provide guidance and training to development and backend teams on data modeling, high-performance queries, and reviews of schema changes.

• Facilitate database integration with APIs and backend services, as well as data pipelines, BI/Analytics tools, and Machine Learning workflows.

• Monitor data volumes and performance, develop optimization routines, and strategize for future processing and storage capacity.

• Oversee database access, permissions, and the implementation of security best practices.

• Automate operational routines and document procedures, environments, and standards, while promoting knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in database administration (DBA) within critical, high-transaction environments.

• Proficient hands-on knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch.

• Experience with non-relational databases (NoSQL).

• Strong expertise in performance optimization, encompassing query tuning, indexing, execution plan analysis, and partitioning.

• Knowledge of backup and restore procedures, replication, and high availability.

• Experience with managed cloud databases like AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, or comparable services.

• Background in microservices ecosystems, supporting backend, BI, and Data Science teams.

• Excellent communication skills to guide developers and coordinate priorities across various squads.

• Analytical and methodical approach to ticket- and SLA-based support, efficiently resolving requests with an emphasis on root cause analysis.

• Familiarity with database monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and Percona PMM or similar solutions.

• Proficient in automating routines using Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripts, as well as applying infrastructure as code with Terraform.

• Experience with data replication for analytics pipelines, including CDC, Debezium, and AWS DMS or similar solutions.

• Understanding of data masking and LGPD compliance.

• Relevant database or cloud certifications.
