Senior Datacenter Construction Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete delivery process of assigned data center construction projects, from planning to commissioning and handover.

• Lead the construction of data halls, which includes the installation of racks, containment solutions, power distribution, cooling integration, and ensuring network readiness.

• Serve as the primary site contact with colocation providers, focusing on base-build readiness, service level agreements (SLAs), project milestones, and integration points.

• Direct vendors, general contractors, and trade partners to fulfill fit-out objectives within tight timelines.

• Apply Cerebras construction standards, playbooks, and scalable colocation deployment processes.

• Coordinate both base-building and tenant improvement activities.

• Manage the cost, schedule, quality, and safety across various projects and workstreams.

• Create and maintain detailed construction schedules, including critical paths, dependencies, resources, and recovery plans.

• Identify potential risks, formulate mitigation strategies, and escalate significant issues to the Director.

• Lead on-site execution teams and ensure an active presence as necessary.

• Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams for the delivery of long-lead equipment.

• Maintain project reports, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, and updates suitable for executive review.

• Support initiatives related to modularization, prefabrication, and lessons learned.

• Cultivate relationships with colocation providers and site teams.

• Verify technical and delivery compliance regarding base-building readiness.

• Ensure clear delineation of responsibilities between landlords and tenants.

• Hold providers, contractors, and vendors accountable for their commitments, milestones, quality standards, and readiness.

• Address integration challenges between colocation infrastructure and Cerebras systems.

• Review project scope, schedule implications, pricing, and change orders; negotiate within authorized limits.

• Lead project meetings, document decisions and action items, and resolve outstanding issues.

• Confirm progress through site inspections, field observations, schedule assessments, and contractor progress validation.

• Assist with commissioning, punch-list completion, turnover documentation, and operational handover.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in mission-critical construction, ideally within data centers.

• Extensive experience in executing white-space fit-out projects in colocation settings.

• Strong understanding of power, cooling, controls, and rack-level infrastructure in high-density environments.

• Proven capability to manage multiple complex construction projects or workstreams at the same time.

• Experience collaborating with EPC firms, general contractors, specialty trades, and colocation providers.

• Strong project management and commercial acumen, including schedule management, change-order review, contract administration, and cost control.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze detailed construction schedules, identify critical-path risks, and formulate effective recovery plans.

• Working knowledge of commissioning, quality control, safety, and project turnover processes.

• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, uncertain startup environment.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Capability to work independently, make timely decisions in the field, and escalate issues as necessary.

• Proficient in construction management, scheduling, and reporting tools.

• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites as needed.

• Export compliance assessment or authorization may be necessary for access to controlled source code and technology.
