This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, construct, and manage database systems utilizing MySQL, PostgreSQL, and BigQuery, predominantly on the Google Cloud Platform.
• Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security for LOCALiQ's production database infrastructure.
• Safeguard data integrity and safety, encompassing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery validation processes.
• Execute database tasks including upgrades, patching, schema modifications, replication management, and capacity planning.
• Optimize and diagnose slow queries, blocking issues, and replication challenges in collaboration with application teams.
• Assess database modifications to mitigate deployment risks and assist teams in designing scalable schemas and access methodologies.
• Streamline recurring operational tasks through scripting, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Engage in a scheduled 24x7 on-call rotation shared with fellow team members.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to maintain fast, secure, and accessible data platforms.
• Contribute to the operation and enhancement of the database systems that support LOCALiQ's digital marketing management solutions.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or in a comparable role.
• Practical experience overseeing production database infrastructure within a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Proficient understanding of relational databases — MySQL and/or PostgreSQL — including administration, replication, and backup/recovery processes.
• Strong SQL capabilities, encompassing the ability to read, write, and enhance complex queries.
• Programming experience in at least one language — Python is preferred, though Go, Java, Ruby, or similar languages are also valuable.
• Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative coding practices within a team.
• Sound judgment regarding change management, risk assessment, and data integrity within production environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated curiosity, self-motivation, and a tendency to automate repetitive tasks.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially Cloud SQL, BigQuery, GKE, and Pub/Sub (comparable AWS experience with RDS, Redshift, EKS, and SQS is also acceptable).
• Familiarity with BigQuery or another cloud data warehouse, focusing on cost and performance optimization.
• Experience with data modeling and transformation tools such as Dataform or DBT.
• Proficient in infrastructure as code (Terraform), containers, and CI/CD methodologies including test automation and automated deployment processes.
• Comfortable operating within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Exposure to digital marketing or online advertising data (SEO/SEM) is a plus.
• Variable incentive compensation, including commissions, may apply.
