Senior Database Administrator, SQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Set up, install, maintain, and provide support for databases within the specified technology and capability area.

• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, encompassing installation, configuration, patch management, and version upgrades.

• Guarantee the consistent operation of SQL Server databases across development, testing, UAT, and production environments.

• Supervise database performance, availability, and capacity, proactively addressing any issues that arise.

• Analyze and enhance database performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, and configuration enhancements.

• Establish and uphold backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including testing recovery procedures.

• Plan and execute database changes, releases, and upgrades in accordance with change management protocols.

• Create and maintain scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.

• Investigate and resolve database incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and project teams to facilitate solution delivery and fulfill database requirements.

• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database standards.

• Provide on-call support for critical environments as part of a 24x7 roster.

• Meet customer SLAs and ensure the delivery of project and support commitments.

• Lead continual service improvements to enhance technical efficiency and the quality of client service.

• Promote professional collaboration with internal teams, clients, and external partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience managing Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise settings.

• Proficient in T-SQL, including performance tuning and query optimization.

• Experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies.

• Strong grasp of database security, backup and recovery, and capacity planning.

• Proven experience in planning and implementing SQL Server upgrades, patches, and migrations.

• Capability to analyze and resolve database-related application performance challenges.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills, including the ability to conduct root cause analysis.

• Experience in automating administrative tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting languages.

• Familiarity with Azure SQL and hybrid database environments.

• Strong understanding of ITIL processes, especially incident, problem, and change management.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and provide technical guidance when needed.

• Bachelor's Degree (as specified in the posting metadata).
