Application Database Administrator – Secret

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Administer, optimize, modernize, and oversee Oracle and SQL Server databases in both hybrid on-premises and cloud settings.

• Manage Oracle 19c/12c and SQL Server databases, including schemas, configurations, and security protocols.

• Conduct performance tuning, troubleshoot issues, and support high-availability workloads.

• Develop and validate backup and recovery plans using Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, SQL Server backup/restore, and high availability/disaster recovery configurations.

• Assist in database refactoring, patching, upgrades, and migrations.

• Collaborate with ETL, reporting, and data quality teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data flows.

• Monitor, log, automate, and secure database workloads in alignment with DoD cybersecurity standards.

• Support batch processes, integrations, and application components that interact with multi-platform database environments.

• Contribute to modernization efforts involving schema optimization, stored procedure refactoring, query optimization, and data movement.

• Active Secret Clearance is required.

• A Bachelor’s Degree is necessary.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Application DBA in a large enterprise environment.

• Familiarity with DoD 8140 cybersecurity compliance and secure database administration practices.

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c/12c, including SQL/PL SQL development, performance tuning, troubleshooting, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, AWR reporting, and OEM/cloud monitoring.

• Practical experience with SQL Server administration, encompassing T-SQL development, indexing and query tuning, job management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

• Working knowledge of the infrastructure components that support Oracle and SQL Server workloads, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and identity management.

• Experience with modernization initiatives, schema optimization, stored procedures, query optimization, and data movement in Oracle and SQL Server environments.

• Familiarity with automation and DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

• Understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, encryption, and access control.

• IA Level: IAT II.

• Computing Environment: OCA18 or an equivalent certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
