This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary technical authority for optimization and advanced analytics within the portfolio.
• Develop and execute prescriptive analytics solutions, particularly optimization models, to establish safety stock levels, suggest resupply quantities, and balance risk and cost throughout the supply chain.
• Propose optimal resupply quantities based on installation and ammunition type.
• Align regional inventory with demand, minimize excess shipments and storage waste, and prevent stock-outs.
• Enhance Army analytics from descriptive/diagnostic to predictive/prescriptive analytics, ensuring models are actionable in an operational context.
• Design, implement, and refine linear, mixed-integer, stochastic, and multi-objective optimization models in collaboration with logisticians and ammunition subject matter experts (SMEs).
• Take into consideration forecasted demand, available depot stock, transportation costs, storage limitations, depot capacity, readiness priorities, surge requirements, and other operational constraints.
• Partner with data engineers to guarantee clean, timely pipeline inputs and integrate optimization models into applications and Army Vantage workflows.
• Create and implement model performance metrics and KPIs, conducting near real-time monitoring of model impact.
• Lead experimentation, scenario analysis, and sensitivity studies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists.
• Assist in briefings to senior Army leadership and stakeholders, articulating model design, trade-offs, and operational impact.
• Bachelor’s degree in operations research, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline; master’s or PhD preferred.
• Over 7 years of experience in advanced analytics, operations research, or data science, with direct involvement in the design and deployment of optimization models.
• Proven expertise in linear and mixed-integer optimization, stochastic optimization, and/or robust optimization.
• Familiarity with modeling tools and libraries such as Pyomo, Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or similar.
• Experience in integrating optimization models with predictive models, including machine learning-driven demand forecasts.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex mission and business objectives into formal optimization formulations and deliver production-level solutions.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders and conveying trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
• Active SECRET clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Desired: Experience in Department of Defense logistics, supply chain, or munitions management; knowledge of Army ammunition systems and processes.
• Desired: Prior experience with enterprise data platforms such as Army Vantage or Army Data Platform and AWS GovCloud or similar secure cloud environments.
• Desired: Familiarity with model lifecycle management, including validation, verification, and continuous improvement processes in operational settings.
• Desired: PMP and/or SAFe/Agile certifications.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Retirement savings plan with employer matching.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
• Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
