This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the intelligence framework that drives Risepoint's engagement with students throughout their academic journey.
• Spearhead comprehensive AI/ML projects from initial scoping and design to cross-functional implementation and measurable results.
• Create the “Next Best Experience” predictive engine for personalized and timely outreach to students.
• Enhance retention, engagement, enrollment conversion, and pipeline efficiency metrics.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, and university partner teams.
• Identify and define new AI/ML opportunities while advocating for prioritization with leadership.
• Oversee key vendor and software-provider relationships as a leader of workstreams.
• Develop and deploy predictive models for assessing churn risk, engagement likelihood, and success probability.
• Lead the design and deployment of next-best-action logic.
• Prototype, test, and implement models utilizing Databricks, MLFlow, dbt, and Dagster.
• Collaborate with data engineers to establish reliable data pipelines and feature stores.
• Extract behavioral insights from speech analytics and structured CRM/LMS data.
• Design and execute A/B testing programs, making decisions to ship, iterate, or halt initiatives.
• Set up feedback loops and monitor production performance for ongoing model enhancement.
• Convert technical findings into narratives that are suitable for executive presentation.
• Mentor colleagues through code reviews, collaborative work, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Enhance pipelines, feature documentation, shipping speed, and the technical standards of the team.
• Demonstrated success in delivering measurable impact for consumers and businesses through AI/ML projects, including scoping, managing implementation, and owning end-to-end outcomes.
• Experience as a workstream leader responsible for designing, managing, and executing AI/ML projects within a cross-functional setting.
• 5 to 8+ years of experience in applied machine learning or data science.
• Proficient background in predictive analytics, recommendation systems, and experimentation, including A/B testing, causal inference, and uplift modeling.
• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Experience with Databricks, MLFlow, dbt, and Dagster, or a proven ability to quickly adapt to a modern MLOps stack.
• Comfort in working with complex, multi-source datasets, including CRM, LMS, communication logs, and speech analytics.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or engineering.
• A PhD in a technical discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in education, consumer technology, personalization, or a complex behavioral domain is highly desirable.
• Background in higher education, edtech, or student success platforms is a plus.
• Prior experience in developing or operationalizing next best action or propensity-to-engage models at scale is advantageous.
