This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the production planning model, encompassing demand forecasting, safety stock, inventory targets, and forward production plans across various plants.
• Develop capacity and scheduling optimization models, which include press and mold assignments, site balancing, and utilization targets, while considering tool availability.
• Oversee metric governance and create consistent definitions for essential business metrics, such as labor as a percentage of production sales value, OEE, and net sales.
• Reconcile metric definitions and calculations across the lake house, Power BI, and business applications to establish a unified source of truth.
• Design, implement, and analyze experiments with retail partners, including price and assortment testing.
• Collaborate with engineering to create LLM-assisted analytics tools, incorporating natural-language question-and-answer capabilities over the data warehouse, complete with evaluation methods, accuracy standards, and guardrails.
• Assist finance and corporate development with analytical modeling for acquisitions, capital projects, facility decisions, and other strategic initiatives.
• Lead and mentor the Data Scientist.
• Establish and uphold review standards for analytical code, methodologies, documentation, and business communication.
• Present analytical findings, models, and recommendations to executive leadership, articulating and justifying the underlying methodology and assumptions.
• Collaborate with data, engineering, operations, finance, and commercial teams to transform complex business problems into practical analytical solutions.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, operations research, advanced analytics, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in applying forecasting and inventory methods within production environments, which includes intermittent and hierarchical demand forecasting as well as service-level-based safety stock.
• Familiarity with optimization techniques such as linear programming (LP) or mixed-integer programming (MIP), utilizing OR-Tools, PuLP, Pyomo, or similar platforms, or experience in developing practical scheduling heuristics.
• Expertise in SQL and Python.
• Proven experience in developing production-quality code maintained in Git.
• Capability to investigate and reconcile conflicting metrics or reports, establishing a consistent definition or source of truth across teams.
• Strong analytical judgment with the ability to assess assumptions, methodologies, and limitations.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in presenting complex analytical concepts to executive leadership and explaining and defending analytical methodologies.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
• Preferred: experience with injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or multi-plant S&OP.
• Preferred: experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI semantic models.
• Preferred: experience utilizing LLM APIs, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, in production analytics tools or applications.
