Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Execute comprehensive lifecycle engineering processes, which encompass research, analysis, design, development, unit testing, Verification and Validation (V&V), integration testing, training, deployment, documentation, and providing recommendations to the Government for the HawkeyeFlight software.

• Create and implement solutions utilizing machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and statistical learning models (SLM).

• Design, develop, train, validate, and deploy machine learning and statistical learning models.

• Formulate NLP solutions for maintenance documentation, technical publications, operational reports, and other forms of unstructured data.

• Develop predictive and prescriptive analytics algorithms to aid in maintenance forecasting, reliability analysis, readiness reporting, and anomaly detection.

• Conduct data cleansing, normalization, enrichment, quality assessment, and validation across various enterprise data sources.

• Establish feature engineering techniques to enhance the performance and accuracy of machine learning models.

• Construct and manage data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, model training, and analytics delivery.

• Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical evaluations to uncover trends, correlations, and operational insights.

• Work collaboratively with software developers and systems engineers to implement AI/ML solutions within production environments.

• Assist in migration and modernization efforts involving cloud-native architectures and secure government-hosted environments.

• Generate analytical dashboards, visualizations, reports, and executive briefings.

• Engage in Agile practices, including requirements analysis, sprint planning, testing, demonstrations, and release readiness reviews.

• Facilitate model governance, traceability, performance validation, and ongoing improvement.

• Ensure adherence to data governance, cybersecurity, and government standards.

• Contribute to the modernization and enhancement of data analytics capabilities for a U.S. Navy aviation sustainment program.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active/current Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.

• At least 5 years of experience in developing data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics solutions.

• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models within production settings.

• Familiarity with Statistical Learning Models (SLM), predictive analytics, and forecasting techniques.

• Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), text analytics, semantic search, or implementations of large language models.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Experience conducting data cleansing, normalization, and quality enhancement activities across extensive datasets.

• Background in analyzing both structured and unstructured data.

• Experience in creating data visualizations and communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Understanding of cloud-based analytics architectures and data platforms.

• Preferred: Master's degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

• Preferred: Experience with Jupiter cloud-hosting environments.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Databricks, AWS Athena, AWS Lambda, AWS GovCloud, OpenTofu or Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Apache Spark, distributed data processing, MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated model deployment.

• Preferred: Experience with Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, aviation maintenance, logistics, sustainment, or readiness programs.

• Preferred: Experience in Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) or predictive maintenance efforts.

• Preferred: Knowledge of technical publications, maintenance data, logistics data, or operational analytics ecosystems.

• Preferred: Active Secret Security Clearance.
