Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Employ statistical and machine learning methodologies, along with high-performance data frameworks and technologies, to solve intricate business challenges.

• Examine extensive, unstructured data collections.

• Design, execute, and advocate for data modeling and sophisticated analytical techniques.

• Offer direction to the data scientist team and leadership within the Department, Institute, or Regional Hospital.

• Engage in the establishment of data science best practices.

• Develop predictive models and forecasts, including opportunities to create generative AI applications.

• Collaborate with executives, physicians, project stakeholders, business leaders, internal stakeholders, and technology partners.

• Convert stakeholder requirements into data science and machine learning solutions.

• Mentor junior developers and guide their technical input.

• Steer problem definition, model construction, and the application of ML and AI technologies.

• Define analytical approaches and synthesize insights to meet customer needs and deliver value.

• Counsel customers and prospects on technology and tool selection.

• Advocate for proof-of-concept initiatives and operationalize successful projects.

• Keep abreast of advancements in data science and their potential applications within the organization.

• Contribute to scientific publications and foster academic collaborations.

• Educate stakeholders and internal clients about advanced analytics and data science services.

• Lead relationship building and technology assessment for potential enterprise partnerships.

• Instruct the Analytics University curriculum for Cleveland Clinic caregivers.

• Provide and approve peer-review model evaluations and feedback communication.

• Execute other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Physics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, or a related field along with 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in healthcare or life sciences.

• OR a Ph.D. with 4 years of pertinent experience.

• OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of applicable experience.

• Proficiency in working with relational databases and/or distributed computing platforms and query interfaces such as SQL, Teradata, MapReduce, PIG, and Hive.

• Familiarity with statistical languages/packages like SAS, R, Python, Spark, and/or SPSS.

• Understanding of advanced statistics applied to complex business issues, including modeling, AI, ML, Deep Learning, and/or NLP.

• Knowledge of Python, Java, or C/C++.

• Experience with data visualization methods and business intelligence tools.

• Technical expertise in distributed computing platforms and data processing flows from collection and generation through ETL and data warehousing.

• Proven leadership skills, including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation abilities.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English.

• Capacity to articulate the value of ML and AI to business leaders.

• Strong business acumen and the ability to choose quantitative methods aligned with business objectives.

• Must reside in Ohio, Florida, or Nevada.

• Capability to perform work in a stationary position for prolonged periods.

• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.

• Proficient in communicating and exchanging precise information.

• Willingness to travel within the hospital system.

• Adherence to required personal protective equipment protocols.

• Compliance with the annual influenza vaccination program or an approved exemption.

• Successful completion of post-offer controlled-substance testing.
