Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of models and data throughout the entire process, which includes problem definition, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, and communicating model findings to clients.

• Create, train, and implement exploit prediction models utilizing ground-truth exploitation telemetry across cloud environments, application security, and traditional infrastructure.

• Construct evaluations based on precision, recall, coverage, efficiency, and calibration, including monitoring how these metrics deteriorate over time.

• Tackle significant class imbalance in vulnerability exploitation prediction.

• Develop a dual-model architecture utilizing partial pooling, hierarchical priors, and cold-start behavior for customers who have limited local telemetry.

• Engineer features by analyzing scanner output, EDR, asset inventory, identity, cloud posture, and exploitation telemetry, while also identifying data leakage.

• Manage monitoring and drift detection processes.

• Contribute to publications, methodology documentation, open benchmarks, and deliver presentations at conferences.

• Collaborate with engineering and the forward-deployed team to transition models from notebooks into production systems used by clients.

• Clarify vulnerability model rankings and uncertainties to security executives and clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Multiple years of practical experience in machine learning or statistics with models that have been deployed in production and had significant implications when errors occurred.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Experience with version control and the creation of reproducible pipelines.

• Secure management of customer data.

• Deep understanding of classification techniques under severe class imbalance.

• Familiarity with at least one of the following: survival and time-to-event analysis, Bayesian hierarchical modeling, or causal inference.

• Capability to articulate a model’s workings to a security executive.

• Skill in quantifying uncertainty.

• A strong interest in understanding attacker behavior.
