This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Provide guidance to ambitious businesses regarding UK and European privacy regulations.
• Offer advice on compliance, governance, and risk associated with UK data protection.
• Assist with data subject rights requests, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and other compliance initiatives.
• Counsel on matters concerning international data transfers, ePrivacy, cookies, and direct marketing strategies.
• Draft and negotiate agreements related to data processing and data-sharing.
• Provide insights on AI and emerging technology challenges.
• Support data breach responses, incident management, and liaising with regulators.
• Advise on EU GDPR and global privacy trends.
• Assist clients in managing special category or sensitive data across various sectors.
• Offer data protection expertise on technology, commercial, corporate, and employment issues.
• Lead projects and nurture client relationships.
• Deliver practical and commercially focused advice.
• Collaborate with commercial, technology, employment, and corporate teams to offer cohesive advice.
• Contribute to the growth and ongoing success of Harper James.
• Over 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
• Extensive experience in advising on UK and European data protection law.
• Proven experience in UK data protection compliance, governance, and risk advisory.
• Background in supporting data subject rights requests, DPIAs, and compliance processes.
• Familiarity with advising on international data transfers, ePrivacy, cookies, and direct marketing.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating data processing and data-sharing agreements.
• Knowledge of AI and emerging technology issues.
• Experience with data breach response, incident management, and regulator engagement.
• Understanding of EU GDPR and global privacy developments.
• Capability to assist clients with special category or sensitive data.
• Strong drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Skill in clearly and practically explaining complex legal and technical matters.
• Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships.
• Capacity to work cooperatively with commercial, technology, employment, and corporate teams.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and technologies.
• Willingness to leverage AI tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to utilize SharePoint for project management and collaboration.
• Strong attention to detail in document drafting.
• Solicitor qualification is implied by the required Senior Solicitor role and post-qualification experience.
