Senior Data Protection, Governance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Act as the leading architect and hands-on executor for the Google-focused data security, access control, and compliance framework.

• Develop and implement a data governance strategy across Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform, and Google Cloud Storage.

• Set up and configure an Enterprise Data Catalog utilizing Google Dataplex or Knowledge Catalog.

• Create and implement automated data classification systems and records retention lifecycles using Google Vault and Drive Labels.

• Design and manage integrated Data Loss Prevention policies within GWS and GCP.

• Establish and execute RBAC and ABAC access controls through GCP IAM to uphold least-privilege practices.

• Construct and oversee governance triggers and compliance workflows utilizing Cloud Functions and GAM scripts.

• Collaborate with Legal, InfoSec, and business partners to convert compliance policies into configurations on the Google platform.

• Report directly to the Director of the Data Enablement & Protection Hub.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical discipline.

• Extensive, hands-on experience in configuring security and governance controls within Google Workspace (GWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Professional background with Google Vault, GCS security, Dataplex/Knowledge Catalog, and advanced GCP IAM policy application.

• Experience in developing SaaS DLP policies within GWS/GCP and implementing RBAC/ABAC access frameworks.

• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Google App Maker (GAM).

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical brainstorming sessions and translate intricate GRC requirements into platform configurations.
