This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop essential capabilities for the core data platform, including services and APIs for data access, query execution, ingestion, and synchronization.
• Create reusable connector frameworks and abstractions that support various systems and access patterns.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data querying and movement, enhancing performance through partitioning, parallelism, and effective memory and storage management.
• Implement orchestration, retries, checkpointing, and observability to ensure reliable workload recovery and data integrity.
• Transition capabilities from design to production.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define interfaces and evaluate architectural trade-offs.
• Manage the systems and capabilities that have been developed.
• A minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Experience in building maintainable and tested production software.
• Background in developing backend services, data infrastructure, or data platform components beyond simply configuring pipelines.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, query optimization, data formats, and the trade-offs between querying data in place and materializing it elsewhere.
• Experience with concurrent or distributed workloads, including failure handling, resource management, and performance debugging.
• Capability to investigate unfamiliar systems and transform complex requirements into clear, actionable designs.
• Familiarity with analytical query engines, lakehouse technologies, workflow orchestration, enterprise-system integrations, or containerized infrastructure is a plus.
• Experience in building connector libraries, developer-facing APIs, or shared platforms utilized by other engineering teams is particularly relevant.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), encompassing networking, storage, identity and access management (IAM), and infrastructure as code is advantageous.
