This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +27 more states.
• Establish and promote the adoption of enterprise data standards that encompass naming conventions, both business and technical metadata, data quality regulations, and reporting definitions throughout Snowflake.
• Choose, implement, or enhance a data catalog that includes ownership, definitions, sensitivity classifications, and usage guidance for essential data assets.
• Create a shared ontology in the healthcare context and an enterprise data dictionary that reconciles definitions across Customer Success, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, and Operations.
• Define and execute data lineage standards that trace metrics and fields from their source to consumption.
• Collaborate with embedded analytics teams to align reporting definitions and produce certified reports and semantic models.
• Act as the enterprise data architect for Snowflake in terms of data modeling, organization, governance, schema design, domain modeling, and platform architecture.
• Facilitate translation between business concepts and data models.
• Establish decision-making rights, change management processes, governance forums, and a data council.
• Report directly to the SVP of AI, Data & Data Science.
• Function as the highest technical authority on enterprise data standards, taxonomy, and governance.
• Deliver a widely adopted enterprise data dictionary and ontology.
• Build and maintain a live catalog that encompasses high-value Snowflake datasets.
• Document the lineage for key reporting metrics.
• Minimize duplicate or conflicting reports and metric definitions.
• Establish robust governance with active participation from stakeholders.
• Must reside in the United States within one of the designated eligible states.
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or enterprise data roles.
• Direct, hands-on experience in building or scaling data catalogs, data dictionaries, taxonomies, or ontologies within a complex organization.
• Practical experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse, including data modeling, schema design, and architecture trade-offs.
• Direct experience with data cataloging and metadata management tools such as Snowflake Horizon, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, DataHub, or Purview.
• Experience with integrating legacy data sources like RDBMS and familiarity with lineage tooling and practices.
• Proven ability to align functions with varying vocabularies and incentives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate consensus among stakeholders.
• Experience in the healthcare domain, preferably in healthcare revenue cycle, payer/provider, or patient financial services.
• Strong foundation in data modeling, including dimensional modeling, entity-relationship modeling, and semantic layers.
• Familiarity with components of the modern data stack, such as ELT/ETL, orchestration, and BI/semantic tools like dbt, Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Senior individual contributor experience representing data architecture in leadership forums.
• Employment eligibility in the United States.
• Successful verification of employment history and background check.
• No current or future need for work sponsorship in the United States.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK and formal data stewardship programs is a plus.
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as X12, HL7/FHIR, CPT/ICD coding, and HIPAA is advantageous.
• Experience with ontology or knowledge-graph approaches supporting AI and data science is a plus.
