Senior Data Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Document and communicate the requirements for data engineers.

• Develop Scala code for the Claims Cost Measures Team.

• Utilize and create Python scripts for ETL processes and data analysis.

• Conduct data validation and utilize SQL for querying data.

• Enhance data quality checks.

• Update and improve data documentation.

• Engage with external partners regarding requirements.

• Consistently script and analyze data.

• Regularly use Jira and Confluence.

• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and testing meetings.

• Work East Coast hours, with core hours and meetings potentially commencing at 9:00 AM Eastern Time.

• Provide support for the Clinical Interface and Scoring aspects of CMS's Quality Payment Program.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, or a related field).

• Over 5 years of experience in software or data development.

• More than 3 years of hands-on coding experience in Scala or similar programming languages.

• At least 3 years working in a data engineering capacity.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience with any SQL dialect.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Must be a U.S. resident and authorized to work in the U.S.; all work must be conducted within the U.S.

• Must have resided in the U.S. for three full years out of the past five years.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently.

• Ability to take ownership of analyses from the clarification of requirements to final deliverables.

• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

• Capability to understand and convey the big picture while simplifying complex concepts.

• Ability to independently identify and learn new techniques.

• Preferred: experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims data and associated claims codes (HCPCS/CPT/ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS).

• Preferred: experience with Spark/PySpark/SparkR.

• Preferred: advanced knowledge of SQL querying and database management.

• Preferred: experience with Git/GitHub.

• Preferred: experience in an agile environment.

• Preferred: familiarity with Confluence and Jira.

• Preferred: experience with the Scaled Agile Framework for projects.

• Preferred: experience in a software development team building modern software products.
