Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture and technical roadmap for essential components of Jampp's data infrastructure.

• Design and develop scalable, incremental, and maintainable ETL processes from diverse sources.

• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Senior/Staff engineers to create scalable data models and pipelines that support real-time ML infrastructure.

• Establish and uphold data consistency and reliability standards across systems and machine learning inputs.

• Detect and address systemic bottlenecks through benchmarking, root-cause analysis, and architectural solutions.

• Create and enhance tools and frameworks that facilitate company-wide data access and reliable, scalable transformations.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to mid-level and junior engineers.

• Contribute to technical decision-making regarding tooling and infrastructure selections.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of programming experience in Python, demonstrating a history of developing and managing production-grade distributed systems.

• Proven expertise in architecting and scaling distributed data processing systems.

• Extensive hands-on experience with the AWS Big Data stack, including Kinesis, EMR, and Lambda, within high-throughput, transaction- or event-scale settings.

• Strong background in managing and operating TrinoDB/PrestoDB clusters in production environments.

• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and PySpark.

• Robust understanding of databases and SQL, including performance tuning at scale.

• Experience with Databricks is a significant advantage.

• A proven track record of mentoring and coaching engineers.

• Involvement in the open source community is a valuable addition.

• Ability to operate with substantial ownership and navigate ambiguity while making sound architectural decisions without complete guidance.
