Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate data systems and enhance current processes.

• Develop new data solutions tailored for Pharmacy Benefit Management clients.

• Collaborate effectively with fellow engineers, business stakeholders, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams.

• Engage in an Agile development environment and participate in Scrum ceremonies.

• Design, develop, test, debug, and deliver solutions in line with requirements and timelines.

• Manage VisualCron schedules, SQL/ETL procedures, reporting, and existing .NET applications.

• Resolve pharmacy claim-related issues, reports, and processes.

• Provide support for SQL code associated with NCPDP Pharmacy Encounter data submissions.

• Create comprehensive technical specifications based on requirements and design.

• Monitor and enhance database performance through query tuning and indexing strategies.

• Evaluate processes and suggest reliable, maintainable code enhancements.

• Analyze software requirements and evaluate design feasibility within time and budget constraints.

• Act as a technical authority in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software and complex enhancements.

• Integrate new technologies with cloud and product infrastructure.

• Escalate problems and solutions to staff engineers and management.

• Communicate solutions, updates, changes, and risks to stakeholders.

• Mentor team members and disseminate knowledge.

• Stay updated on database development trends and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or 4+ years of relevant experience and/or a combination of education and experience required.

• Over 10 years of SQL database development experience using the Microsoft SQL Server toolset, including SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, SSAS, and RDBMS.

• More than 5 years of experience with data warehouse methodologies.

• Strong proficiency in database design, normalization, and data modeling.

• Solid understanding of dimensional data modeling and OLAP principles.

• Expertise in query tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like Azure SQL Database and AWS RDS.

• Advanced SQL skills, including data modeling, DBO creation and management, and indexing.

• Experience in implementing high-availability, high-throughput, and scalable systems.

• Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing application and database issues, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending corrective actions.

• Proficient in PowerShell and Python.

• Experience with AWS, GitLab, and Visual Studio.

• Familiarity with .NET, C#, JSON, XML, VisualCron, and Power BI.

• Knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

• Understanding of non-relational databases like MongoDB and Cassandra, and big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.

• Familiarity with NCPDP, HL7, ANSI X12, and/or related drug database terminologies and classifications.

• Understanding of Medicare Part D, PDE submissions and returns, pharmacy claims, and benefit management.

• Capability to architect, design, develop, and implement microservice and monolithic architectures.

• Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to travel to multiple site locations within the assigned territory.

• Availability outside normal business hours on an ad-hoc basis.
