Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance data models and schemas for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications.

• Design and construct ETL/ELT pipelines to acquire, process, and transform substantial datasets from diverse sources.

• Implement performance optimization techniques, such as tuning, partitioning, and clustering to enhance query efficiency and minimize costs.

• Establish and uphold data quality standards, governance frameworks, and security policies.

• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide data solutions that integrate with BI tools and machine learning models.

• Produce documentation for data pipelines, workflows, and processes.

• Share industry best practices and provide mentorship to junior data engineers.

• Design and architect data infrastructure tailored for analytical workloads.

• Model the Core Data Domain to accommodate various access patterns and use cases.

• Convert business requirements into technical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Strong expertise in SQL with a track record of developing complex queries.

• Proficient in Python, particularly in building ETL pipelines.

• Experience in deploying data pipelines within a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP).

• Familiarity with data governance best practices in a cloud setting.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and product owners.

• Understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and the creation of data marts.

• Bachelor's degree is preferred, along with specialized training or relevant professional qualifications.

• Experience with machine learning workflows on GCP is preferred.

• Background in healthcare data is preferred; familiarity with Tuva or OMOP Models is a plus.
