Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in the complete architecture, design, and execution of scalable Data Lakehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform, utilizing BigQuery, GCS, BigLake, and Dataplex.

• Collaborate with clients to comprehend business objectives, data challenges, and technical specifications, translating them into architectural frameworks and actionable strategies.

• Design and implement both real-time and batch data ingestion workflows using contemporary orchestration and streaming technologies.

• Establish and uphold best practices for data cataloging, metadata management, lineage, and data quality assurance.

• Define and apply data security, access control, and governance frameworks that comply with enterprise and regulatory standards.

• Act as the technical lead for project teams by mentoring engineers, reviewing solutions, and ensuring architectural coherence.

• Lead practical solution development, proofs of concept, detailed explorations of data pipelines, and performance optimization.

• Collaborate with stakeholders, cloud architects, and delivery leaders to foster solution adoption, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

• Represent Egen as a reliable technical advisor during client engagements, clearly communicating trade-offs, best practices, and recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering and Data Platform development.

• More than 5 years of experience in architecting data platforms on GCP and/or Databricks.

• Practical experience in designing and deploying Data Lakehouse platforms with data products and medallion architectures.

• Strong knowledge of real-time and batch data ingestion methodologies, ETL/ELT pipeline design, and data orchestration using frameworks such as Airflow, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies.

• Expertise in data modeling, storage optimization, partitioning, and performance tuning for large-scale analytical tasks.

• Experience in implementing data governance, security, and cataloging solutions, including Dataplex, Data Catalog, IAM, or equivalent tools.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to lead diverse teams of engineers, analysts, and architects while balancing architectural vision with hands-on execution.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to troubleshoot at the code level, contributing to architectural discussions.
